Final thought

4, 6 or 8 lanes, which is
best for you?

This Scalextric Hire guide will give you a better idea of what type of Scalextric track to hire.

4, 6 or 8 lane racing circuits come in various shapes and sizes, but the minimum size for a good circuit should be 16 feet length by 8 feet wide (5m by 2.5m).

6 or 8 lane racing circuits in the shape of a figure 8 are good when you do not want your races to be competitive. These circuits are easy to drive around as you can just keep your finger in one place on the throttle and still get round.

If you want to have exciting and competitive races the circuit has to have at least eight bends and a chance of coming off. If the circuit is too easy to drive around the racing will not be competitive and people will soon get bored.

4 lane circuits with at least eight bends offer exciting and competitive racing. There is minimal disruption to races when cars come off as stewards can easily put cars back on the track.

6 or 8 lane circuits with at least eight bends are good but when a car comes off it can take a long time to put the car back on the track. The steward may have to stop the race to put the car back.

If you have over 100 people who want to race at your Scalextric event you will need a 6 or 8 lane circuit. 4 lane circuits are better suited for events when fewer than 100 people want to race.

To sum up

If you do not want races to be competitive then go for a 6 or 8 lane racing circuit that is easy to drive around. A circuit in the shape of a figure 8 is perfect.

If you want exciting and competitive races for 100+ people 6 or 8 lanes are good provided they have at least eight bends. But be aware of the problems if cars come off as it can disrupt the race.

4 lane racing circuits with at least eight bends gives you exciting and competitive races. It's ideal for groups of up to 100 people.

Hope that's been of some help and if you have any other questions just drop us an email.
